Fresh Colorado Native Christmas Trees

Some families want a tree with a story close to home. A Colorado native tree is the same kind of evergreen you’ll see on a drive into the mountains, standing in your living room for Christmas.

What Is a Colorado Native Christmas Tree?

A Colorado native Christmas tree is an evergreen species that grows naturally in Colorado’s mountains and foothills. Native evergreens include the Colorado Blue Spruce, our state tree, along with the Ponderosa Pine, Pinyon Pine, Douglas Fir and Concolor (White) Fir. Each one has its own look, from the silvery-blue color of a spruce to the long needles of a Ponderosa.

Why Families Choose a Colorado Native Tree

For a lot of Denver families, the mountains are part of who we are. A Colorado native tree brings a little of that home for the holidays. It’s the tree you see on a winter drive up I-70, now shining with your family’s ornaments.

Colorado natives also look different from the classic firs most lots carry. You’ll find rugged, natural shapes, bold colors and needles that range from short and stiff to long and soft. Ask our crew which native trees are on the lot this season and what makes each one special.

Keeping Your Colorado Native Tree Fresh

These trees grow in Colorado’s dry air, but inside a heated home they still need water to stay fresh. A few simple steps keep yours at its best:

1Get it into water fast. Set up your tree in water within a few hours of getting it home.
2Never let the stand run dry. A fresh tree drinks a lot in its first few days. Check the stand every morning.
3Keep it away from heat. Place it away from heater vents, fireplaces and sunny windows.
4Wear gloves for spruce. Colorado Blue Spruce needles are sharp, so gloves make decorating easier.
